How in the world can we decide which candidate to choose in the primaries or the general election? (I mention the primaries because they are more important than the general election in picking someone who will carry out their oath of office.) This is not an easy task. The media has an agenda and leans pretty far to the left(anti-constitutional). In my opinion politicians themselves cannot be trusted since many of them are interested only in maintaining their power. So, what can be done to sift through the mountains of propaganda?
A good idea would be to read the Declaration of Independence, The Constitution and the Bill of Rights. If someone tells you these founding documents can’t be understood because of age or semantics let them know that’s just not true. These documents are easily understood. If you run across a word you don’t know look it up and get the correct meaning. Use it until you understand it and then read the section again. By the time you’re done you will know our founding documents as well as any constitutional professor. And you will know how these documents protect the individuals right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. You’ll also understand that the Constitution must be applied if we want a free society.
The next step is to look at what each individual candidate has done. You of course can listen to what they have to say but if a candidate says, “I am a budget hawk,” and yet they’ve voted for bills that have cost trillions of dollars of borrowed money and that take away the individual’s rights,” well, those actions speak for themselves loud and clear.
Ask the question, “Do they support our founding documents or do they support an ever expanding federal government?” The bigger the government the more power that government has over the individual. The more centralized the government the less power the individual has over that government. De-centralization gives everyone more liberty. In order to achieve this look over the article, “Liberty & Enforcing The Constitution“.
Let’s do a little studying, take a good hard look at what the candidates are actually doing and pick those who will secure the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all of us.
Our children and grandchildren are counting on us. Let’s do it!
