One Point Five Trillion Deficit A Danger To Our Liberty

Money is power and the administration’s new budget demonstrates that power being drawn to Washington at an unprecedented rate. Charitable deductions will be zero for those making 250k a year while taxes for the middle class will go up at a time where many are having a rough time making their mortgage payments. What can be said for an administration whose sole purpose it seems is to take as much money(energy) from its citizens as it can before they go belly-up? I think Thomas Jefferson said it best:”the true theory of our Constitution is surely the wisest and best . . . (for) when all government . . . shall be drawn to Washington as the centre of all power, it will render powerless the checks provided of one government on another, and will become as . . . oppressive as the government from which we separated.”

Is the government more knowledgeable than we are concerning where, how, and why our money should be spent? I say absolutely not! It is the legacy our founders gave us to choose our own destiny. That’s what liberty is. Choosing our own course in our own time. That is what makes our country so desirable to people in other lands. People who brave all manner of hardship to come here so they can chart their own course, not some politician’s or dictator’s.

And why punish the producers with some imagined purpose of helping the less fortunate? Is there a secret message in taking away all charitable deductions for the so-called rich? Has giving the poor government largess made any dent at all in so far as poverty is concerned? Do some research and you will find the answer to that is no. There are as many poor today as when the Great Society started more than four decades ago. Punishing successful individuals with extremely unfair tax policy will give the message that being successful is not a good thing. And finally taking away an individual’s charitable decuctions at that income level gives not only the previous message but also takes the individual’s freedom to support philanthropic organizations of his own choosing away from him.

 What kind of organizations will the government support? Well how about acorn, planned parenthood, psychiatry, any and all unions no matter their purpose, and worst of all more and more and more government bureaucracies. These bureaucracies then tell you what, where, when, and how you can run your life if they let you live at all.

Why not inspire people to be as successful as they can be instead of pretending that not everyone can. Why not create more wealth instead of pretending that there is only so much and that it must be spread around evenly. As far as I’m concerned these ideas if said with true conviction would get millions of new businesses started in no time. That of course presupposes that oppressive tax policies and regulations are lifted.

Taking away the individuals right to choose is tyranny. It’s looking more and more like Jefferson was right. So the next question is, “What do we do about it?” Well for one talk to everyone you know and start particicpating in the process the founders left us with to overthrow a tyrannical government without taking up arms. Find people to run for office that think of the constitution as the rules that our government runs by and support them. Help them get elected and “ throw the bums out.” But remember you’ll probably never find the perfect candidate.

In the meantime communicate to your congressman and your senator about the bills that are in congress now and for God’s sake pay attention. A police state could be right around the corner and I sure don’t want my grandson nor anyone else’s child to be suppressed by such a state.

Know the constitution. You can be an expert on it and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t. If someone does they are incorrect.

The Freedom To Speak vs. Obama’s Political Machine

Okay. So you’ve decided to speak your mind and go to a townhall meeting to let these boys in Washington know they’re going down the wrong path on healthcare. And now you find out that you’re part of an unruly, unpatriotic, well organized,  nazi-minded mob. What’s interesting about this is that the accuser, President Obama and the media, are actually guilty of that which they are crying wolf about.

The well organized unions and acorn are both funded by  taxpayer money. The unions through car company bailouts and acorn through four and a half billion, yes I said billion, dollars of stimulus money. Most of the conservatives that show up at these meetings are like me, owners of small businesses, self-employed or they are independents and sometimes democrats who don’t like what they see in this healtcare bill. The President sends out marching orders through his chief of staff and the word goes out to the unions and acorn to punch back at these upstart americans who disagree with the administration on healthcare and are pushing the healthcare bill off a cliff. What right do they have?

In spite of all of their money, organization, and political power these groups cannot stand against the freedom and liberty loving people of this great country. Who are right now, without much organization, only their own resources and no real political power of any kind stopping government run healthcare cold.

I remember President Reagan saying in his first inaugural address that the freedom and liberty of our people is a greater weapon than any our enemies possess. He was right.
