I know that the constitution does not give the congress or the president the power to force me or you to buy a service that we don’t need or want. Only by modifying definitions of certain words in the constituion could you even remotely make it so. Really, think about it. The federal government which has bankrupted the post office, social security, medicare, medicaid, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and virtualy the whole country is now in charge of healthcare. What do you think these people will do with hospitals and doctors? The same thing they did with the post office, continuous decline.
It appears to me that we are in a kind of soft fascism. Fascism is a system of government in which property is privately owned but regulated severely by government and opposititon is vigorously suppressed. These fascist activities are masked by words like help by the president, the leaders of the house and senate and the press but in actuality do much more harm than good by rewarding us for being dependent. And as all of us parents know you always go for more independence not less.
Our goverment has taken over two car companies, many banks, student loans and now healthcare which is about one-sixth of the economy. And of course at this very moment the president is trying to get the congress to authorize, through a new law, the executive branch of government controlling all banks and credit. The president and the congress severely criticize, dismiss and demean any opposition to their agenda, which for the past year has been us the American people. And most of the journalists, who are suppose to be the watchdogs of the government, are doing the same.
So how do we undo the passage of this mother of all government takeovers? Step one has already started with lawsuits that are being filed by seventeen states. There will be many more by other groups and individual Americans as well. In total there may be hundreds of these suits. Any one of these suits needs only one small part of this almost three thousand page law to be unconstitutional and the entire mess will be thrown out. I’m posititve that out of 3000 pages one or two will be found unconstitutional. But I’m not depending on it.
The next step is the election in November. This could be our last chance to take our government back from these anti-constitutional politicians. Really, these people are against our constitution. Our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness does not include a politician forcing us to buy a service or a product. It’s just not in there anywhere. Forcing an American to buy something is the antithesis of our founding documents. So, talk to everyone you know and don’t know. Make sure they understand the constitution and the attacks on it and how it directly affects them. Make sure that they know we must cut spending not spend more. And most of all we must elect people who will apply the constitution to any laws they pass. This will give us limited government.
We should continue to communicate our disagreement and dissent to our representatives, senators and the president. A good strategy is to ramp up the opposition through every communication channel we can use. We don’t have to take up arms. Our words and our commitment to the idea of freedom and liberty for all are a much greater weapon than any those that want these ideals for themselves only can muster. Anyone that tries to take away your freedom to choose for yourself is directly attacking you and every American. We are standing for all of our countrymen not just ourselves.
Patrick Henry wrote, ”Give me liberty or give me death,” March 23, 1775. It was so meaningful at the time that it became a rallying cry. Today we do battle with words and ideas and instead of death we will get a slavery to an all powerful government that will stop any forward progress we could make by squashing anything that is different or new. I don’t intend to let that happpen. I’m sure you won’t either.
